Please see below for bonfire permit rules & regulations, prohibited open burning, permitted open burning restrictions, and violations and municipal infractions.
1. Only seasoned fire wood shall be burned.
2. Fire is to be no larger than three foot square and two foot high.
3. Fire must be under the direct supervision and control of a person of at least 18 years of age at all times.
4. Fire shall not be located within 25 feet of any structure, deck, combustible material or property line.
Open burning of leaves, dead grass, grass clippings, hedge clippings, weeds, trees, logs, tree trimmings, branches, brush (unless burned in a bonfire regulated and permitted under Section 4 of this ordinance and with a valid permit therefore), building debris or construction, construction debris by a general contractor, sub-contractor, property owner, or their agents or employees, or by any other person or entity, rubbish, refuse, trash, waste paper, garbage, or any other types of waste materials, materials by any person or entity for the purpose of melting, thawing or warming the sand or ground at or near a construction site (the use of a propane tank/flame shall be permitted for such melting, thawing or warming purposes), and all other materials not permitted under Section 4 of the within ordinance.
Open burning within an outside grill or barbecue for the expressly limited purpose of food preparation. Open burning of bonfires for recreational purposes only, no more than three (3) feet in diameter and at least twenty (20) feet from all property lines and structures. Bonfires shall be permitted only after issuance of a valid written permit by the City of New Baltimore. The permit issued shall indicated the date(s) and time(s) when such bonfire(s) will be permitted. All bonfires shall be under the direct and constant supervision and control of a person at least 18 years of age. The open burning of stumps in pits shall be permitted upon applying and obtaining a Special permit with the approval of the Fire Chief an Mayor. Open burning permitted under this Section 4 shall not result in the emitting of burning sparks or burning embers upon adjoining, adjacent, neighboring or nearby properties or premises. All open burning permitted under this Section 4 shall be conducted and performed in such a manner so as not to endanger the health, safety or welfare of the public or to endanger public or private property.
Any violation of any provision of this ordinance or any permit granted hereunder, or of any lawful order of the Fire Chief, Building Inspector or other public official issued in pursuance of this ordinance shall be and shall constitute a Municipal Civil Infraction. A 'violation' includes any act which is prohibited, made or declared to be unlawful or an offense by this ordinance and any omission or failure to act where the act is required by this ordinance.

It is further understood that if there are any violations of this permit that I may be held responsible for any and all costs associated with a Fire Department response Art. V Div. 3 and or violations in accordance with the City of New Baltimore fine schedule Sec. 30-72. I further recognize that when a bonfire is burning, extinguishing means should be readily available.
